New Leaf
A new start of self-development has always seemed to
me to be the beginning of the New Year, it is a popular time to “turn over a
new leaf”, where people want to change their routine in order to achieve
long-term goals.
Many people think about their New Year's resolutions. They
want this to be their breakthrough year. They want big changes. They want to
take bold action. They want this to be their best year, ever. They want to go
for the epic win.
With a New Year just around the corner, it’s a great
time to start thinking about the plans and goals you will be working on
accomplishing in the next year. A great way to plan to be better is to make New
Year's resolutions. Sadly, it's not as easy to stick with those resolutions as
setting them. Whatever is on your list for next year, whether it's getting in
shape, spending more time with family and friends, or saving more and spending
less, setting clear and realistic goals is a key to success.
Keep realistic with your plan. Don't make this a list
of things that are never going to happen. Instead, make a secret rulebook or
insider's guide for your plan, for you, to help you over your humps. When you
fall down, remember this little quote from Mary Anne Radmacher:
“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the
quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’”
