Expect the Unexpected and Always Be Prepared
An earthquake is a sudden, rapid shaking of the ground caused by the shifting of rocks deep underneath the earth’s surface. Earthquakes can cause fires, tsunamis, landslides or avalanches. The effects of an earthquake are terrible and devastating and they can happen anywhere without warning. Everyone has a responsibility to protect their homes and their families. Since no one can predict with certainty when an earthquake will happen, it is important to get prepared in advance.
As the saying goes “Practice makes perfect” it applies to
anything that we want to get better at; this saying is also suitable for
emergency preparedness. Even though earthquakes are uncertain and sudden, we
should do our best to prepare as generally as possible. In that case, when a
real calamity happens, we can count on our knowledge and adapt according to the
situation in front of us. The best way to practice for earthquake is by participating
earthquake drill program of the government.
We are all aware that when an earthquake occurs, there will be
no time to think through what to do. Therefore, of all earthquake preparedness programs,
earthquake drills are the most important. Its purpose is to help and enlighten
students, teachers and staffs on how to practice proper action and response
during earthquake.
We need to cooperate and participate earthquake drills
because earthquakes can happen anytime, anywhere and the best time to prepare
for an earthquake is before it happens.
